Ramón Barúa, Scotiabank and the Wiese Foundation are the winners of the 2017 IPAE Awards.
On June 20, on the Esplanade of the Huaca Pucllana, IPAE held the award-giving ceremony for the IPAE Awards to the Entrepreneur and the Businesses that contribute in an outstanding way to the development of an education of excellence and to the progress and dissemination of the Peruvian culture.
The Wiese Foundation was honored with the award in the Culture category for its work in the El Brujo Archaeological Complex. This award recognizes three important aspects: First, the transcendence of the winning project in the development or preservation of the artistic or cultural heritage of Peru for the world. Second: the degree of impact on society, which, thanks to the institutional effort, may access the art and culture that unites us as a nation. And third, the projection looking forward based on the generation of permanent and long-term relationships.
The work of the Foundation in El Brujo, is also framed within the values of Solidarity, Equity and, mainly, within the value of Identity promoted by the institution. An Identity, understood as the historical consciousness that embraces our cultural diversity, enhances the value of all Peruvians and is a source of development for society.
However, this work and this recognition would not have been possible without the vision and commitment of Mr. Guillermo “Pancho” Wiese de Osma. He, along with archaeologist Régulo Franco, undertook in 1990 the adventure of converting a profusely plundered and barren prairie, interrupted by a few “hills”, in what is now the El Brujo Archaeological Complex.
Therefore, the Wiese Foundation receives this award as a tribute to their memory and, on their behalf, it renews its commitment to continue working so that better citizens may forge the Peru of the future.
