  • Last days to apply for the second edition of the “Entrepreneur Fund” program that will grant financing worth S/150 thousand, training and professional advice to Peruvian social impact ventures. The call for entries will go until February 19, 2023.
  • According to a report conducted by Ipsos on “Entrepreneurship in times of inflation”, 47% of Peruvians have undertaken a business in previous years as a way to react proactively to the impacts of the pandemic and 52% plan to do so in the near future.

Lima, February 15, 2023.- During the global crisis, the Peruvian entrepreneur has been resilient in times of uncertainty, differentiating him/herself by having creative ideas and using innovation as the main factor to start a venture, as well as identifying opportunities to get ahead with his/her business.

Moreover, the International Labor Organization published the Labor Landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean with some labor indicators to know the situation of the region and the country during the past year. That study indicates that Peru is the second country in Latin America and the Caribbean with the highest rate of informality.

According to a report by Ipsos on “Entrepreneurship in times of inflation”, access to financing represents the main barrier to starting a venture in Peru, followed by the country’s economy and the skills gaps of the entrepreneur. On the other hand, 47% of Peruvians have started a business in previous years as a way to react proactively to the impacts of the pandemic and 52% plan to do so in the near future.

It is worth remembering that a survey conducted among the nearly 200 attendees to a panel recently organized by the Wiese Foundation, on the occasion of the second call for entries to the Entrepreneur Fund, revealed that the combination of financing and professional advice is what entrepreneurs value the most in a social innovation program.

It is possible to do business more consciously, more inclusively and more sustainably, through social entrepreneurship. Currently, the entrepreneurial ecosystem still encounters several barriers to its growth.

To help understand these issues and strengthen Peruvian social entrepreneurship, the Wiese Foundation launched the “Entrepreneur Fund” program. The call for entries for its second edition is in its last days, extending until Sunday, February 19, 2023. This

program will finance Peruvian social entrepreneurship with S/150 thousand, mainly under the modality of credits with very favorable conditions, also providing them with training and professional accompaniment for 18 months.
