In response to the healthcare emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Fundación Wiese managed and funded a significant donation to EsSalud of high-flow oxygen equipment, Wayrachis, which are already being used to save lives. This initiative provides a ray of hope for dozens of patients urgently awaiting care in hospitals across the country.
To date, 20 of the 100 units have been delivered, which will help meet approximately 34% of EsSalud's total demand. The goal is to reduce the high load of ICU patients, relieve intensivists’ workload, and most importantly, save lives of those affected by the virus.
What is Wayrachi?
Mercedes Benz and the University UCL Ventura from the UK developed these high-flow oxygen devices and made their designs publicly available so they can be replicated worldwide. In Peru, three brilliant engineers developed these units, naming them Wayrachi. These devices deliver a high flow of adjustable oxygen, using an oxygen supply of up to 4 bars to generate flows of up to 140 LPM with oxygen levels ranging from 30-100%.
Thanks to a non-profit initiative and contributions from various donors, more than 350 Wayrachi oxygen regulators have been manufactured and sent to hospitals within the EsSalud, Minsa, and Police Hospital networks.
Fundación Wiese has joined efforts to contribute to saving lives and supporting our brave doctors and healthcare personnel on the front lines against the pandemic.
