The 4th School and Identity Fair, recently held at the El Brujo Archaeological Complex in Magdalena de Cao, has established itself as a leading space to showcase how cultural heritage is shared through education and entrepreneurship, strengthening the identity of citizens from Ascope and the La Libertad region. With the participation of students, teachers, artisans, archaeologists, and the general public, the event brought together more than 2,000 people in a day full of learning, creativity, and tradition.

What is the School and Identity Fair?
The School and Identity Fair is a cultural and educational event organized by Fundación Wiese, aimed at strengthening regional identity through education, the appreciation of cultural heritage, and local entrepreneurship in La Libertad, Peru.

The fourth edition of the fair took place on September 7, 2025, at the El Brujo Archaeological Complex, located in Magdalena de Cao, Ascope Province, La Libertad Region.

What types of activities and participants were part of the fair?
The event showcased 20 innovative educational projects developed by students from educational institutions in Ascope. Approximately 20 entrepreneurs offered handcrafted, traditional, and culturally rich products. In addition, there were workshops and exhibitions led by archaeologists from the archaeological site, as well as artistic performances by children from the community of Magdalena de Cao, artists from Casa Grande, and performers from the province of Ascope.
What is the purpose of the School and Identity Project?
The School and Identity Project, promoted by Fundación Wiese, aims to improve school climate and strengthen the sense of belonging in schools within the area of influence of El Brujo. Since 2022, two editions have been implemented, reaching more than 7,900 students and 589 teachers across 25 educational institutions over four years.
Who are the strategic partners of the fair?
Fundación Wiese works in partnership with the Regional Government (GORE) and through interinstitutional agreements with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education. The School and Identity Project is implemented alongside key local partners such as the Regional Education Management of La Libertad (GRELL) and UGEL Ascope, whose representatives and specialist teams were present at the fair.
Karina Minaya, Acting Deputy Manager of Pedagogical Management at GRELL, highlighted the positive impact on students and reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive education, regional identity, and strengthening ties between the community and local heritage. Authorities from GERCETUR and other partner institutions were also in attendance.
