salvar vidas en zonas vulnerables

New mobile unit will travel the country to save lives in vulnerable areas

  • The Wiese Foundation and the League Against Cancer join forces in favor of the prevention and early detection of cancer in Peru.
  • It has two consultation rooms to promote the prevention and early detection of five types of cancer.

Thanks to the alliance with the Wiese Foundation, the League Against Cancer (LCC) will have a modern mobile unit that will transport a multidisciplinary team to the most vulnerable areas of the country to provide specialized care and perform screening exams for five types of cancer. In this way, we contribute to the decrease of advanced cases of this disease.

Committed to this fight, the president of the LCC, Adolfo Dammert, announced that the new mobile unit will expand the detection of cancer in the early stage in the interior of the country, providing greater opportunities to vulnerable affected populations, given that early detection increases the chances of overcoming it.

“We have signed a collaboration agreement with the Wiese Foundation with the aim of carrying out joint actions to eliminate the barriers to access to primary care, promoting greater equity and providing a quality medical service for the prevention and early detection of cancer. It is the sixth mobile unit that the League Against Cancer will have. It will travel through the interior of the country in its first stage”, said Adolfo Dammert.

For her part, the general manager of the Wiese Foundation, Ingrid Claudet underscored that “this modern mobile unit symbolizes the beginning of our alliance with the LCC and the possibility that the most vulnerable people in other regions of Peru can also have access to the valuable oncological preventive health services offered by our ally. In line with our institutional values, through this collaboration agreement, we seek to promote the health and integral well-being of Peruvians in a supportive and equitable manner.”

The mobile unit will have two duly equipped consultation rooms and, in its first year of operation, will travel through vulnerable areas of Metropolitan Lima and the provinces of Ica, Huancayo, Cañete, Barranca and Huacho. It will provide the services of clinical diagnosis of breast, thyroid, Pap smears, lymph nodes and skin cancer; as well as guidance and awareness to strengthen the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices in the intervened population.
